Welcome to the Studying Advice page! This page is designed to ease your worries when it comes to studying the SAT/ACT tests.
The first thing you need to do is to find out what type of learner you are. People's minds all work in different ways and the best way for you to prepare for the tests, is for you to study based on what kind of learning works best for you. There are multiple different kinds of learning, and by finding out what way works best for you, you will be able to format your test prep better to your learning style. Now that you know what learning style is best for you, here is some advice from students and teachers on what the best ways to study are.
- Set goals for yourself. Break things down into what you feel that you can manage
- Reward yourself for every goal that you accomplish. For example: phone checks, small piece of candy
- Be organized
- Make sure your work space is clean
- Turn off notifications on your phone
- Listen to classical music as you study
- Take regular breaks every 20-30 minutes
- Eat healthy food while you study
- Drink lots of water
- Organize the way you study based off of your learning style
- Take time to stretch during your breaks. It will keep you from becoming stiff and lets you look at it with fresh eyes.
- Take online or in book practice tests.
- Review the questions on old tests or homework assignments
- Join a study group and review with you friends
- Explain your answers to someone, even if it is your dog or yourself in a mirror. It can be helpful to hear yourself saying it out loud.
